Story #12 Meet Warren
Meet Warren: We call him 'Sir Warren'; he's a regular at our community lunches and an amazing character who always wears a smile. He never turns up without a comment to make about the footy and his beloved 'Blue Baggers' and is always up for a chat with the vollies.
ALL ABOUT YOU:
Tell us a little bit about you growing up?
I was born in St Kilda in 1954 and have lived there all of my life. I learn some tough lessons about life young. Growing up my Father taught me a lot, especially not to mix with drugs. I do love spending time with lots of different people that I care about, but I also lost a lot of people in the last few years and I miss them every day. You can’t replace people.
What are some things you enjoy doing?
I was born an Aussie and I love my sporting background. I’m a Blue Bagger through and through and love my footy. I like trying to get out and about and meeting new people and I enjoy coming over to the South Melbourne Market.
If you were writing a recipe for ‘LIFE’ - what would you top 3 ingredients be?
1. Look after your health
2. Life can be short
3. You have an obligation to live life to the max
ALL ABOUT A BEAUTIFUL FOOD EXPERIENCE LUNCHES:
What did you like most?
I’ve come to lots of lunches and they are always above standard. I’d walk on water to come to another lunch. When I came along to the Christmas lunch I even got up and had a dance to the band that were playing! I always feel content after I’ve come to one of these lunches, it makes me feel at peace with myself.
ALL ABOUT FOOD, THE MEMORIES, THE EMOTIONS, THE SPECIAL TIMES
Do you have a special food memory?
My favourite foods are strawberries, pancakes and pavlova! Some of my best food memories are at big parties celebrating my mates getting married. Another good memory was when my girlfriend and I used to go and get Chinese together after we watched the footy, which was always best after a Carlton win!
